This is the third Land Rover I have restored for The Orvis Company. It was a working Land Rover that carried a National Geographic photographer from Loch Ness and Ben Nevis in Scotland to Hong Kong and many locations in between.

I started this project by completely dismantling this Land Rover. Next I rebuilt the engine and transmission/transfer case assemblies. I started reconstruction with a new galvanized chassis, adding new suspension, new axle assemblies, new brakes new exhaust , new electrics and steering before returning the engine and transmission to the chassis. From there, I assembled the body which had been striped, epoxy primed and painted. Finally the full interior, re-upholstered in the close-to-original "Elephant hide" material, was installed.

It is painted in the classic Bronze Green color and is a 10 passenger Station Wagon, with seat belts for all. It is a very nice looking Land Rover that is ready for anything!

Cheers

1.This Land Rover will have around 300 post restoration miles on it when it is sold. I drive a finished Land Rover restoration this far for initial break-in, testing, and final adjustments to insure trouble-free driving for the new owner.

2. There is no part of this Land Rover that has been overlooked during this restoration. I intend this vehicle to function as a new vehicle. I have been driving these vehicles for over 40 years and have seen nearly every possible failure. This knowledge guides my work.

3. I endeavor to use Genuine Land Rover parts everywhere possible, including many NOS (new old stock) parts. I do this for durability as well originality.

1. Engine. It is the original 2.25 L Land Rover engine, completely rebuilt and compatible with unleaded fuel.

2. Transmission/transfer case rebuilt.

3. Drive train. The axle assemblies are NOS and the drive shafts are new.

4. Brakes. All new.

5. Exhaust all new.

6. Suspension all new.

7. Electrical system all new.

8. Steering rebuilt steering box and the rest is new.

9. Heating and cooling rebuilt and new.

10. Galvanizing. The new chassis is galvanized and the galvanized trim has been re-galvanized.

11. Wheels and tires. Original wheels have been sandblasted and powder-coated and Michelin XPS 235/85 x 16 tires installed. Spare can be mounted on the bonnet or the rear door tire mount.

12. Ventilation. The Land Rover has a Tropical roof, which consists of a white sun reflecting sheet layer above the main roof with 4 interior vents capturing the breeze between the two roofs. There are large vents below the windscreen and 8 windows that open.
